Prizes 2012
The Mietta Song Competition provides a significant pool of prizes designed to assist the professional development of the winning singer and pianist. For the 2012 competition, there are cash awards for finalists and semi-finalists. The prizes from our generous donors and sponsors include:
The Mietta Prize $5,000 to the winning singer
The Hugh D.T.Williamson Prize
$5,000 to the winning pianist
$2,000 to the second-placed singer
$2,000 to the second-placed pianist
The O'Donnell Family Prize $4,000
For the study of Italian language and culture. At the judges' discretion, this may be awarded to the winning singer or pianist.
Tait Memorial Trust Prize
Funding and support for language and voice classes overseas.
ABC Classic FM Prize
Song recording by ABC studios for an ensemble selected by the ABC.
The Arnold and Mary Bram Australian Song Prize
Prize for best performance of an Australian song.
MSC Committee Awards
Cash awards for finalists and semi-finalists.
Audience Choice Prize
Cash award for singer and accompanist voted the best by audience members.
Murray River Festival Prize
Special performance prize to a singer selected by Festival Artistic
Directors Stefano and Sergio de Pieri OAM, to give a recital at the 2013 Festival.
The judges and the ABC may withhold or vary the listed prizes at their discretion.
